Wondrous Covers Wednesday – Couples Edition (#4)

Wondrous Covers Wednesday – Couples Edition (#4)

Welcome to another Wondrous Covers Wednesday post. It is the last Wednesday of February which means I’m sharing another romance-centered theme. Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I usually choose to showcase at least three covers with similar attributes and themes. This series will be branching out a little. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here. This week’s theme is illustrated couples sitting down. I love a lot of these. I love a lot of these! ~My Thoughts~ * The Gravity Of Us, Lucky Caller and I Think I Love You have such sweet couple romancey vibes. The colors in them are lovely as well! And they all feature sunsets which is such a fave of mine. The Gravity Of Us and Lucky Caller are pretty similar but I like how they have their differences. * I love the picnic for A Cuban Girl’s Guide To Tea and Tomorrow. It’s really pink which is so cute. I’m interested to see the color of the hardback because I’m picturing the most beautiful shades of teal and pink for it. * Today, Tonight and Tomorrow has one of my favorite cover aspects which is the […]

Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I usually choose to showcase at least three covers with similar attributes and themes. This series will be branching out a little. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here. I’m continuing my couples theme for my illustrated series. Here is where you can see last week’s theme. To see my other posts in the series: Wondrous Covers Wednesday (Illustrated 1) Wondrous Covers Wednesday (Illustrated 2) This week’s theme is. . . Couples in different positions. I’m going to say now that these are all so cute. I’m in love with all of them. You Say It First, Tweet Cute and Bookish and The Beast have to be my favorites. Judging by Bookish and The Beast and Tweet Cute, risking your life is totally fine. I’m exaggerating but just looking at these makes me nervous. In case you’re curious about any of these lovely looking books: Of Curses and Kisses (#1) by Sandhya Menon Goodreads Summary: From the New York Times bestselling author of When Dimple Met Rishi comes the first novel in a brand-new series set at an elite international boarding school, that’s a contemporary spin […]

Wondrous Covers Wednesday: Couples (Illustrated Edition #2)

Wondrous Covers Wednesday: Couples (Illustrated Edition #2)

Hey all. I’m continuing my Illustrated 2020 covers series today and I have been waiting to do this post forever. In honor of Valentine’s Day and, you know, gorgeous covers, I’m featuring all of the (standing) illustrated couples of 2020 that I could track down. Nothing like looking at a ton of couples to get you in the mood for feeling single. 😂 I’m not a bitter. Really!! I promise. I am hoping that all of these are actually romances as I was unsure about a couple of them. 🤔 I’ll be featuring quite a few covers from a past WCW as well because, well, it’s just how it goes. Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I usually choose to showcase at least three covers with similar attributes and themes. This series will be branching out a little. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.   Let’s see what similarities I’m noticing in these covers aside from the obvious: Blue backgrounds and Books Are Being Featured: The Perfect Escape, What I Like About You, The Upside of Falling, and Recommended For You. Plus we have Verona Comics taking place at a comic […]

Wondrous Covers Wednesday: Featuring The Non-White Narrative

Wondrous Covers Wednesday: Featuring The Non-White Narrative

Hey all. I am diverting from what I was going to originally do for today. Don’t worry, I’ll be posting it next week. Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I usually choose to showcase at least three covers with similar attributes and themes. This series will be branching out a little. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here. So, yesterday a certain article went out regarding classic books being given a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) cover makeover. This is problematic for so many reasons. 1. The stories are still white centered, nothing of value has changed. 2. We get the question, “What if your favorite literary characters reflected the Diversity of America?” from this tweet which is such a non-sensical question, because, yes, what IF. Also, what if they supported BIPOC covers to begin with? What if there wasn’t gate keeping? What if white authors didn’t get the first dibs on black models for their covers while Black authors get rejected? What if? 3. It’s a pure money-making scheme to get BIPOC to buy Classics which offer no representation or racist stereotypes. With all that said, Here are lovely backlist covers: […]

You Look Familiar. . . Couples Edition #1 (Wondrous Covers Wednesday)

You Look Familiar. . . Couples Edition #1 (Wondrous Covers Wednesday)

Welcome back to another lovely Wondrous Covers Wednesday. I’m kind of so excited for this post and I know, that’s so unlike me, but really. Wait until you see these covers I’m sharing today! I am sharing FIVE covers again today and unlike last week, these are all so uncanningly similar. I LOVE doing these little similar cover posts, I’ve done a few before. I was looking at covers I’ve saved and I had to do a double take when I saw Reconnected and The Upside of Falling. As I’ve been gathering illustrated covers a lot for my series, I thought I’d look back over what I found and to my surprise, those weren’t the only two. If these were only illustrated covers I saw, I would wonder if people were running out of ideas, but no. I’ve seen a lot of covers, don’t fear. I found these all so amusing though. There’s also a fun poll at the bottom because I don’t do enough polls and this post demanded one. Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I usually choose to showcase at least three covers with similar attributes and themes. This series will be branching out a […]

Wondrous Covers Wednesday: Animated Edition (Part One!)

Wondrous Covers Wednesday: Animated Edition (Part One!)

Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I usually choose to showcase at least three covers with similar attributes and themes. This series will be branching out a little. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.  Your eyes are not deceiving you, I am in fact doing a Wondrous Covers Wednesday post! I miss these posts so much. I have been tracking covers a ton since the New Year hit and I’ve noticed there are so many amazing animated ones. I love this trend, though by the count of this post, it’s past trend stage and here to stay! Originally, I was going to make a super-mega long post with a ton of covers but that would have been a lot, even for me. Instead, I am breaking this into a series! Because apparently I’m just all about the series posts these days. There will be days when the covers may overlap because of the theme but that’s okay! They should be looked at more than once. Today’s theme is all about interesting animation having to do with faces.  I supposed there’s some mixed media involved with some of these covers. These first […]

Some Gradient Covers

Some Gradient Covers

This is my next edition of my somewhat sporadic feature, Wondrous Covers Wednesday. Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I choose to showcase three covers with similar attributes and themes. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.  For today’s Wondrous Covers Wednesday, I decided I’d finally share some covers I’ve loved over the past year. They’re all mostly white covers with a lot of gradient running through them. They also have somewhat the same color scheme. ~One~ You Bring The Distant Near by Mitali Perkins ~My Thoughts~ You Bring The Distant Near has such a gorgeous cover. I love the big focus on the text, but I love how it’s not so overbearing that the image doesn’t shine through. The colors are gorgeous. The image itself is so interesting.  ~Cover/Book Connection~ Well, You Bring The Distant Near spans over the time of three generations. I associate each generation with a color in the gradient which makes one whole person. It’s such an awesome way to showcase that. ~Two~ Because of The Sun by Jenny Torres Sanchez ~My Thoughts~ I always love sunsets on covers and this one is interesting because of the lack of focus […]

Wondrous Covers Wednesday – Cover Battle Edition

Wondrous Covers Wednesday – Cover Battle Edition

Hi everyone. I’m bringing you Wondrous Covers Wednesday, but not my normal type of post today. Well, I suppose it is like my normal type, but it’s a little more battle esque. Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I choose to showcase three covers with similar attributes and themes. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.  In the past, I did a post on two covers that were really similar to each other. i’m going to do the same thing this time. The covers?    All three of these covers have a lot of similarities to each other. They all focus on either the twilight time or a bit after that with a lot of empty space at the top. They all share silhouettes in the covers. We Were Never Here and The End of Our Story both focus on people, to be more specific, a couple. Meet Me Here is the brightest of the covers and also features stars, along with The End of Our Story. I think the lightness of Meet Me Here gives an indicator of how bright it will seem, in that it’s not as dark or sad as We […]

Photographic Covers – Wondrous Covers Wednesday (#52)

Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I choose to showcase three covers with similar attributes and themes. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.  Hey everyone. It’s unfortunately been forever since I did Wondrous Covers Wednesday. Oops. 🙁 To be honest, I don’t really have a reason why I haven’t done it, other than lack of motivation, which accounts for basically the lack of posts I’ve done.  I really love photography even though I don’t do much (read: any) anymore. This reminds me that I need to look at more photography, find some blogs to follow and maybe buy a camera or something. I’ll be focusing on photography on book covers.  I’ve also decided that when possible, I’ll showcase a music video that goes along with the theme because that’s kind of fun. I also had the most perfect video in mind as well. ~One~ Autofocus by Lauren Gibaldi I love how the cover is broken into various photographs, but pieces of hair still escape the frames. I like how they all make up a whole picture. It showcases the whole longing that the main character has in finding her birth mother. I […]

All The Watery Covers – Wondrous Covers Wednesday (#51)

Hi all! This is the first time I’ve done Wondrous Covers Wednesday in a while. Oops. I hadn’t quite felt like it, so I didn’t do it. If you’re not sure what Wondrous covers Wednesday is and don’t know what you’re missing, well, it’s… Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I choose to showcase three covers with similar attributes and themes. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.  Today I thought I would finally share all the watery covers I’ve discovered this year, there are a ton, so I’m not going to say too much about them. ~Submerged In Water~              ~Looking At Water~      ~Laying By The Pool~     I adore all of these covers and their similarities.  Which is your favorite? I love the UK edition of Underwater by Marisa Reichardt and Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma. Do you have any favorites I missed? Feel free to share the cover love.
