Poetic Justice: Featuring Luna

Poetic Justice: Featuring Luna

Hi everyone. This post is going up a little later than anticipated because of some technical difficulties, but it’s up now! I’m so excited to share this amazing interview by Luna. I hope you find some useful information here and maybe some new poets to discover as well. You can read Luna’s previous interview for Poetic Justice here. Poetic Justice is a month long event, beginning April 1st to April 30th in honor of National Poetry Month. Throughout April there will be interviews, guest posts, excerpts and other poetic posts. I hope you will follow along. To read the introductory post, you can find out more here. Poetry has meant so much for me since I was a teenager, what does poetry mean to you? I have this philosophy, this belief of sorts about the word beautiful: it means nothing without intent. It’s the same thing with poetry. It needs […]

My NaNoWriMo Journey Thus Far

If you have seen my Twitter, you may know that I’ve been doing NaNoWriMo. It’s my first year and I’ve been doing pretty well so far. I would go as far as to say extraordinarily fair considering I was someone who never I could actually write a novel. Here I am though with over 33 thousand words and we’re not even halfway through the month. Here are some interesting tidbits that have come up for me: Supporting Characters: I had no idea that supportive characters could just appear out of nowhere. Hello, party-thrower with the cousin who’s a necessary character now. Plot Expansion: Everything would be so much easier if my two main characters could just live in a bubble and only interact with each other, then again, that would also probably be weird. This ties into the first answer because wow, I have two supporting characters that show up […]

Introducing Poetic Justice: 30 Days of Poetry

Introducing Poetic Justice: 30 Days of Poetry

Hello everyone! Welcome to the introduction for my month long event, Poetic Justice. Poetic Justice is a poetry celebration in honor of National Poetry Month. Poetic Justice will be full of interviews, excerpts, and guest posts from published and unpublished poets. It will range from today with an introduction to April 30th. I’ve had this idea for the past year but I didn’t ever really know how to start it. I thought about having a sporadic feature, but I wanted to do something bigger. It hit me that doing something in April would be a great idea. It was quite an undertaking trying to put together this event and honestly, extremely terrifying as I’ve done everything solo. I was worried when I first began brainstorming this idea thinking no one would be interested and no one would participate. I was overwhelmed when I shared my Google Form inviting poets to […]

A Poetic Event – Calling All Poets

A Poetic Event – Calling All Poets

Hi everyone! It may be hard to believe, but I have been a book blogger for almost four years now. In all that time, I have never hosted an event on my blog. I’ve had features where authors have guest posted, I’ve done interviews and blog tours, but never anything all me. Well, that is changing! If you’ve seen my Twitter, you may see me posting fairly often that I am starting a tentatively month long event in April in honor of National Poetry Month. I am seeking poetesses and poets to be featured on my humble blog. Here are some quick breakdowns: *This event is open to traditionally published, self published and non-published poets. *I am definitely wanting marginalized voices involved in this. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested, please let them know. *You can have an interview with me via email or Twitter, […]

My Bout of Books #21 Sign-Up

My Bout of Books #21 Sign-Up

I am once again trying to kick off my reading year by getting a head start with a read-athon. I’ve done this a few times by now, with some years going better than others. Nevertheless, I’ll be giving it the good old college try which didn’t actually turn out to well itself, but. If you are not familiar with Bout of Books, they’ve provided a nice blurb about it here: The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 8th and runs through Sunday, January 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 21 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – […]

Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2017

Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2017

Hey everyone. Happy Belated New Years! Maybe? Hopefully. I have never been so happy to leave a year behind than last year. I’m hoping this year will hold some better things for me and everyone. Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday, a bookish meme created and hosted by the ladies at The Broke and The Bookish. That is, until, January 16th when Jana at The Artsy Reader Girl will be taking it over. As usual, every week the hosts pick a new topic for bookish people to participate in. This week’s topic is the top ten new-to-you authors that you read last year. I only read a grand total of 32 books last year. I went through several slumps and hiatuses and just crap honestly so reading was on the back burner a lot. On the bright side though? Reading only 32 books means this week’s theme is a lot […]

Top Ten Books I Would Love For Christmas

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The ladies at The Broke and The Bookish. Every week they pick a topic for the book community to take part in.  You can go here to see future topics. I’m so excited to finally do a Top Ten Tuesday again. Today’s topic is a pretty standard one as Christmas is approaching ~Top Ten Books I Hope Santa Brings~ Roomies by Christina Lauren I don’t usually read too much adult fiction, but it is always something I get interested in. Roomies has an interesting premise to me regarding a marriage to help one from being deported. A The Proposal tea, if you will. I’ve heard a lot about this book lately on Twitter so hopefully it’s enjoyable. Not Now, Not Ever by Lily Anderson Well, to be honest, I haven’t read Lily’s first book, which I would need before reading this. Alas, like with […]
