I Can’t Believe It’s Not Anime (WCW #57)

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Anime (WCW #57)

Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I choose to showcase three covers with similar attributes and themes. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.   Hi everyone! I’m back again with a new theme for Wondrous Covers Wednesday. For this week’s theme, I thought I would focus on four covers that I could not believe weren’t anime. Anime is a Japanese style of animation. ~One~ Up To This Pointe by Jennifer Longo ~My Thoughts~ I believe this is the first cover that inspired this post a long time ago. I think what most reminds me of anime in this cover is the quick glance of the main character on the cover. It strikes me as very, well:    Very, well, the above. It’s the wintery feeling and the isolation the main character is having. The sort of solemn feeling of losing something or maybe, more […]

Photographers (Wondrous Covers Wednesday)

Photographers (Wondrous Covers Wednesday)

Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I choose to showcase three covers with similar attributes and themes. To see past editions, you can check out my page for them here.  It’s another edition of Wondrous Covers Wednesday. It’s been a while, but hopefully I’ll have this feature back on track. I love photographs which can be noted in a past edition I’ve done, but this week, I decided to take on cameras. It helped that a two of the books are being released next year and one was already recently released. ~One~ Busted by Gina Ciocca ~My Thoughts~ This strikes me as a cover that would be a photo on Tumblr. That’s not a bad thing, I love a lot of photographs on Tumblr. It just gives me that kind of vibe. I think it’s the sky in the background and the kind of filter possibly applied to it. I […]

My Latest Library Haul

My Latest Library Haul

Hi everyone. Since moving with my family, I live a lot closer to the library now. This is a blessing and a curse. It seems every time I go in, I come out with at least one new book. I thought today I would share my recent borrowings. Prepare yourselves, it may look like it’s a lot, but it’s really, um, not? Just kidding. Half of them are physical and half are on my kindle.  ~Physical~          I’ve been going through a sort of road-trip, fashion intern, internet sensation, and serious topic mood lately. I picked up Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour because I’ve been reading Open Road Summer. I’m hoping I’ll read Amy & Roger’s after finishing Open Road Summer so I can do a joint review. Actually, a lot of these books will be joint reviews if I read them fast enough. I picked up Fixing Delilah and Saving […]

My ALA Schedule!

I cannot believe that in a week from now, I will be 1. In Chicago and 2. On my third and final day at ALA. I am so ridiculously excited. There are going to be so many amazing authors that I’ve followed on Twitter that will be signing and so many fantastic books. If you’re wondering where I’ll be or may want to stand in line (somewhat) together, here’s my schedule! A rough draft of it, I need to make some minor adjustments, like adding both numbers… Priorities are in Bold. Things I’d really like to do are in Italics. Ideally, this would be in a colored spreadsheet, however, I can’t really do a screenshot on the computer without a ton of extra work. 🙁 Which makes me very sad, but this isn’t bad! Date Title Author Time Publisher Area & Type (Panel/Signing) Sat. 6/24 Miles Morales Jason Reynolds 9:00 AM […]

April Showers Bring May Flowers (WCW)

April Showers Bring May Flowers (WCW)

I mean, maybe? Hi. It has been raining non-stop in Topeka. At least it was anyway, it rained for a week straight, took a couple days off and started back up again. I was honestly expecting to see Noah’s ark coming around. Funny story, I apparently talk about books and ARCs so much that when telling my mom if she sees an Ark to wave it over, she thought I meant an ARC. I kind of pronounce A-R-Cs as ARCs, why? I’m not sure, I just do. Like with BEA, half the time I sounded it out rather than going by letters, ha. I don’t do that with ALA though, maybe because that already has a meaning. This is my next edition of my somewhat sporadic feature, Wondrous Covers Wednesday. Wondrous Covers Wednesday is a weekly feature where I choose to showcase three covers with similar attributes and themes. To see past […]

I've Gone M.I.A. . . Again

It’s me, again. I’m typing this Sunday evening at the library before it closes. I have been pretty absent for the last six months (and so). I still haven’t found the balance between work and blogging. What does that mean for the blog? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the beginning of the end. I say this for a few reasons, the first being I can’t balance work and blogging, as already stated and secondly, my laptop is broken. My laptop is a Mac and ever since Tuesday or Wednesday, it has the prohibitory symbol at the start-up. I’m not sure how to fix it and I’ve done what’s been recommended online from various websites to no avail. “Why would you quit because your laptop’s broken?” The laptop itself is not a huge loss. I’ve known for a while that I’ve needed to replace and I just haven’t. Between saving for […]

Three's A Crowd (Wondrous Covers Wednesday)

Three's A Crowd (Wondrous Covers Wednesday)

Hey everyone. I decided to start up Wondrous Covers Wednesday after seeing a new cover a few weeks months ago. This post has been in my drafts forever and I figured I’d pull it out and finish it. This week’s feature is dedicated to crowds, an introvert’s worst nightmare. Just kidding. Partly. ~One~ The Rest Of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness –  ~My Thoughts~ I like the fade out effect that this cover has with almost all of the people on the cover. Not to mention, this book is supposed to glow in the dark, I’ve heard. They’re all just mostly ordinary people. The tagline here is absolutely everything, we’re not likely to be the “chosen ones” to save the world. ~Two~ The Ones by Daniel Sweren-Becker –  ~My Thoughts~ The Ones has a bit blurry effect going on. I kind of like it, but it kind of districts […]

Bout of Books 18

Hi everyone. I am making my link-up post for the Bout of Books 18 read-a-thon. Top Twelve Favorite Contemporary

Top Twelve Favorite Contemporary

Hi everyone! Long time, no post, I know. I’m, eh, moving on… It’s Tuesday which means it’s Top Ten Tuesday Time. Every week the ladies at The Broke and The Bookish have a new bookish list for the book blogosphere (and others) to participate in. You can see previous and future lists here. I like today’s list because it lets me shout out some titles in my favorite genre. Top Ten ALL TIME Favorite Books Of X Genre (I know, I know. Picking all time faves. I’m MEAN. But I like knowing people’s definitive faves). Can also break it down into sub-genre if that helps? My list is going to be over YA Contemporary. ~One~ ~Two~ ~Three~ ~Four~ ~Five~ ~Six~ ~Seven~ ~Eight~ ~Nine~ ~Ten~   ~Eleven~ ~Twelve~ ~Bonus~ I just thought of two other titles that have to be on here:   I know, none of these books are really […]
