Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The ladies at The Broke and The Bookish. Every week they pick a topic for the book community to take part in. You can go here to see future topics. I’m so excited to finally do a Top Ten Tuesday again. Today’s topic is a pretty standard one as Christmas is approaching
~Top Ten Books I Hope Santa Brings~
Roomies by Christina Lauren
I don’t usually read too much adult fiction, but it is always something I get interested in. Roomies has an interesting premise to me regarding a marriage to help one from being deported. A The Proposal tea, if you will. I’ve heard a lot about this book lately on Twitter so hopefully it’s enjoyable.
Not Now, Not Ever by Lily Anderson
Well, to be honest, I haven’t read Lily’s first book, which I would need before reading this. Alas, like with Roomies, I’ve heard a ton about this on Twitter.
I love the idea of an intense academic summer camp competition. It reminds of Raise Your Voice because of the scholarship prize.
Kaleidescape Song by Fox Benwell
I‘ve been interested in Kaleidoscope Song since hearing the title of it. It makes me think of Kaleidoscope Heart by Sara Bareilles. I love novels that revolve around music so the title caught me hook, line and sinker.
Rebel Seoul by Axie Oh
Rebel Seoul seemed to be the book of the summer. I saw it mentioned absolutely everywhere. This sounds like an amazing Korean action book. I am not really into action movies or science fiction too much, but this reminds me a little of the science fiction in anime even though it doesn’t really connect.
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste NG
I heard so much praise about Celeste’s first novel, Everything I Never Told You. Little Fires Everywhere sounds more interesting to me than the other one though. I always love when there are characters that fascinate everyone else for mysterious reasons. Especially in suburbs where everyone knows each other. Besides that, I am so interested in the custody battle regarding a baby and motives.
The Date To Save by Stephanie Kate Strohm
Everything is on the same day! Sharpay Evans did what now? I am in love. Give me that 24 hour storyline that I love so much.
I love the sound of this, I haven’t read The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You and this is a companion novel of sorts. I’ve heard a lot of good things about TOTWTMIY so my hopes for this are high. I’m sure both will be so entertaining.
These Things I’ve Done by Rebecca Phillips
This sounds like such a tough, sad read. I love reading stories about friendships that end for various reasons. These Things I’ve Done seems like it will keep me reading it in one sitting trying to figure out why Dara and Audrey became a bit distant.
Girl Out of Water by Laura Silverman
I always love when characters have to trade their previous hobby for a new one.
See: Go Figure and Double Teamed
I love a complicated family as well, maybe because I can relate to that aspect pretty well. It can be so hard to balance a previous life with a new one, even when it’s only over a few months too. Girl Out of Water is another book I’ve heard only praises of.
The Awkward Path To Getting Lucky by Summer Heacock
Oh man, I’ve been excited for this book for a while. I love that it deals with a character taking physical therapy. The topic itself, of dealing with having problems that make sex difficult isn’t something I’ve come across before either.
Saints and Misfits by S. K. Ali
I’ve checked out Saints and Misfits from the library quite a few times. I unfortunately haven’t read it even once though. Life, you know.
Janna sounds amazing, I love that she has multiple hobbies like reading, photography and being a graphic novel. I love even more though that this is an #OwnVoices Muslim contemporary novel. It’s so badly needed and it sounds fantastic.
Bonus
Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ornsbee
I love any book that deals with the internet being it’s focus.
Antisocial by Jillian Blake
You can basically read the above. I’m sounding like a broken record now, but this whole hacking of phones with messages and photos reminds me of a certain time capsule in One Tree Hill.
Pillow Thoughts by Courtney Peppernell
Now for a book I actually read. Pillow Thoughts is a poetry book that I devoured in two settings. I highlighted so much on my Kindle and shared a lot of quotes on Goodreads. I love this book. I need it in every format available – or at least in Kindle and physical copy.
What are books that you would love to receive for Christmas? Or for any holiday you may celebrate this time of year. Let me know in the comments! Especially if you have read any of my choices.
