14038BEA-EDB4-4642-8550-37A87D8902B6Hi everyone! It may be hard to believe, but I have been a book blogger for almost four years now. In all that time, I have never hosted an event on my blog. I’ve had features where authors have guest posted, I’ve done interviews and blog tours, but never anything all me.

Well, that is changing! If you’ve seen my Twitter, you may see me posting fairly often that I am starting a tentatively month long event in April in honor of National Poetry Month.

I am seeking poetesses and poets to be featured on my humble blog. Here are some quick breakdowns:

*This event is open to traditionally publishedself published and non-published poets.

*I am definitely wanting marginalized voices involved in this. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested, please let them know.

*You can have an interview with me via email or Twitter, an interview with a fellow poet, write a guest post, review a poet’s book, write a recommendations post, share an excerpt of your poetry (/book), or do another kind of special post. It’s all up to you!

* I would ideally have 28 people. This would give me the chance to do an opening post, two “guest” posts and a closing post. I want to have as many people involved as possible though, I will extend this to May to accommodate posts if I need to (I would love to).

* I would love guest posts especially. I have a shortage right now.

Possible Guest Post Topics (Feel free to write your own!)
*How you started writing
*What poetry means to you
*The poetry climate right now
*Inspiration
*Writer’s block
*Extended hiatus from writing
*The traditional published journey
*The self-published journey
*Poetry tips

However, I may not receive 28 responses, if so, that is okay. I have a few posts I could write up myself. I would just like as many posts as possible.

If you are interested in this event which will hopefully just be really inspiring, please fill out this Google form, contact me via Twitter or email me at YAIndulgences@gmail.com!

Sign-ups will be tentatively closing March 8th.

I will send an email out discussing the schedule, giving out interview questions and hearing guest post ideas.
I would love any signal boost you give this post or my tweet (Please let me know if this is not the correct Google Form. One has just been showing editing options). Thanks!

Stay tuned because next month will be fantastic.

So let us begin! 🙂 Poetry is not something I used to write. I use to write full stories or short stories but here recently I find it easier to write a poem to quickly get a story across. My uncle writes poetry so he pushes me to do better and to be better. He is an inspiration I have in my life to continue writing. Poetry can be like writing a journal for me. Certain times in my life can be found in a poem I write. Even if a poem is not ‘perfect’ I can still keep it for later so I can refine it or have my uncle look at it. Poetry means an escape for me since I can lose myself in writing and thinking. It is something I drew myself into slowly. Something I have slowly been opening up to other people about. Something I have been slowly publishing in various small things. Maybe one day I can be comfortable enough in my escape to share it with others so they can lose themselves in the story. I would love for poetry to mean something to other people as much as it does to me. An example of my poetry: Black Panther We stand in front of the theater, explaining to my friend the social inequalities of gender and race. One friend tells him his biracial cousin was shot by a cop. He stares at us, his deadpan expression. The wonderful lady who set this blog tour up 🙂 YA Indulgences Blog: https://yaindulgences.net/2018/03/02/a-poetic-event-calling-all-poets/ […]
