Bookish List: Groundhog Day

Bookish List: Groundhog Day

Hello everyone. Happy Groundhog Day. I am so ready for spring. Today I am bringing back a feature I started forever ago: Bookish Lists Bookish Lists is a sporadic feature. I love discovering similarities in everything, I wanted to create a feature to showcase books that have similarities whether they’re small ones, like characters with piercings or big ones, like characters who are assassins. Today’s post has been a long time coming. It is a post that I have been so excited to share and every time I remember it, the day has passed me by. 2026 is the year though. I am sharing nine Groundhog Day Trope books. Who hasn’t had a day they wish they could do over until they got it right? I know I’ve had several. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver (Published February 14, 2010) For popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, February 12—”Cupid Day”—should […]

Bookish List: Featuring DNA Tests (Inspired By The Noh Family)

Bookish List: Featuring DNA Tests (Inspired By The Noh Family)

Hey everyone! Today I am bringing back my book spotlight feature where I feature a new release book and create a book inspired list. Today’s list is inspired by The Noh Family by Grace K. Shim. I listened to The Noh Family last month and absolutely loved it. I would not mind a sequel for it at all, by which I mean please please, I need it. In The Noh Family, Chloe discovers her mother’s been keeping the truth of her father’s family from her. Soon after a DNA test, she goes to visit them and drama ensues. If you like Korean Dramas, you will love this and if you love this, you need Korean Dramas in your life. There is something so intriguing about DNA tests and discovering where you come from or who you’re related to. As someone who found out I have an older half sister sans […]

Sequels In 2020 That I Need To Read Immediately

Hi all. I love a good sequel I’ve discovered. I thought this would be a fun post to do because of how many series I started last year and this year so far. Some of these sequels I have read but nonetheless, I made this list months ago. Here we go with a bookish list of sequels coming out (hopefully) this year. *Graphic to come* ~The Read~ One of these was good. Just one. The other two were…adequate. Please don’t make me get into them. We Unleash The Merciless Storm (We Set The Dark On Fire #2) by Tehlor Kay Mejia Goodreads Summary: In this nail-biting sequel to Tehlor Kay Mejia’s critically acclaimed fantasy novel We Set the Dark on Fire, La Voz operative Carmen is forced to choose between the girl she loves and the success of the rebellion she’s devoted her life to. Black YA Authors You Need To Read This Year

Black YA Authors You Need To Read This Year

In honor of Black History Month and wanting to share more marginalized voices, I’m making a list of black authors in the YA world that should be read more. I’m only discussing authors and books I’ve specifically read. Unless they have a heavily anticipated book coming out and that would be most of them!  Here we go: I would be surprised if someone who read books regularly didn’t know who Angie Thomas was. I adored both of Angie’s books so much. They’re so real and current and amazing. I’m so glad I was given the chance to meet her at ALA in 2017. She was delightful. I cannot wait to see what she writes next. My Review For On The Come Up Other Books Released or Forthcoming: Until You Came Back (TBA), Stories in Black Enough, Hungry Hearts and Battle of The Bands Jay Coles will forever have my money. […]

Fifteen YA Romances I Want To Read In 2020

Fifteen YA Romances I Want To Read In 2020

I am doing a romance series of posts for the next two weeks because why not? Today I’m talking about thirteen Young Adult romances that sound really intriguing to me. A few of these are repeats from my two Anticipated Book Lists but that was inevitable. ~One~ Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson The Reason Why Teens bonding over their family issues. I’m very much into that. ~Two~ Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli & Aisha Saeed The Reason Why First of all, that plot sounds amazing and it’s so well needed given the election year. Secondly, the authors! ~Three~ Together We Caught Fire by Eva V. Gibson The Reason Why I love a story dealing with hard issues. ~Four~ The Gravity Of Us by Phil Stamper The Reason Why Space, first love, I couldn’t ask for more. This is Contemporary because I have other lists up my sleeves I’m creating. ~One~ What I Want You To See by Catherine Linka Releases: February 4th, 2020 from Disney-Hyperion Goodreads Summary: Winning a scholarship to California’s most prestigious art school seems like a fairy tale ending to Sabine Reye’s awful senior year. Colin Krell, the renowned faculty member whom she had hoped would mentor her, seems to take merciless delight in tearing down her best work—and warns her that she’ll lose the merit-based award if […]

Top Fifteen 2019 Books I Read Last Year

Top Fifteen 2019 Books I Read Last Year

First of all, Happy New Year! It feels like 2019 took forever but that’s basically every year. I’m both excited by the thought of a new year and decade and nervous. I had the most amazing book reading year ever. Being able to listen to audiobooks at work is my favorite thing since I started. I go through them so much. I discovered I really do like fantasy books and fairytale retellings/folklore books too. I always though they were too complicated and I like the Contemporary Genre because of “Realness” but fantasy is so good. Interestingly enough, as much as I enjoyed them, this list is very Contemporaryish. When I began compiling this list, it was 25 books long. I had read 38 books that were released in 2019. Shannon told me that it probably wasn’t supposed to work that way, thus came my culling! On to my favorite books […]
