Blog Tour: Excerpt of Mayhem by Estelle Laure

Blog Tour: Excerpt of Mayhem by Estelle Laure

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be kicking off the blog tour for Mayhem today with an excerpt. Mayhem releases on July 14th! Here is some info about the book. From Goodreads: A YA feminist mash up inspired by The Lost Boys and The Craft. It’s 1987 and unfortunately it’s not all Madonna and cherry lip balm. Mayhem Brayburn has always known there was something off about her and her mother, Roxy. Maybe it has to do with Roxy’s constant physical pain, or maybe with Mayhem’s own irresistible pull to water. Either way, she knows they aren’t like everyone else. But when May’s stepfather finally goes too far, Roxy and Mayhem flee to Santa Maria, California, the coastal beach town that holds the answers to all of Mayhem’s questions about who her mother is, her estranged family, and the mysteries of her own self. There she meets the kids who live with her aunt, and it opens the door to the magic that runs through the female lineage in her family, the very magic Mayhem is next in line to inherit and which will change her life for good. But when she gets wrapped up in the search for […]

Interview with Kathryn Ormsbee

Interview with Kathryn Ormsbee

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a lovely day. Today, I am sharing with you this fantastic interview I had with Kathryn Ormsbee as part of The Sullivan Sisters blog tour! First, here is some information about the book: Goodreads Summary Time changes things. That painful fact of life couldn’t be truer for the Sullivan sisters. Once, they used to be close, sharing secrets inside homemade blanket castles. Now, life in the Sullivan house means closed doors and secrets left untold. Fourteen-year-old Murphy, an aspiring magician, is shocked by the death of Siegfried, her pet turtle. Seventeen-year-old Claire is bound for better things than her Oregonian hometown—until she receives a crushing rejection from her dream college. And eighteen-year-old Eileen is nursing a growing addiction in the wake of life-altering news. Then, days before Christmas, a letter arrives, informing the sisters of a dead uncle and an inheritance they knew nothing about. The news forces them to band together in the face of a sinister family mystery…and, possibly, murder. The Interview What was the inspiration behind The Sullivan Sisters?   There were three inspirations behind The Sullivan Sisters.    First, I myself am a sister! My sister and I […]

Blog Tour: Interview With Gae Polisner

Blog Tour: Interview With Gae Polisner

Hi everyone. I hope we’re all staying safe and healthy during this time. I’m breaking my blogging hiatus with a lovely blog tour interview with Gae Polisner. You can read about the book below and it will be published tomorrow! 1. What struggles did you have when writing Jack Kerouac Is Dead To Me? What struggles didn’t I have?!  Okay, that may have been overly dramatic. But really, I started the manuscript for JACK a long, long time ago. Some early BETA readers and my agent saw its potential, but, for me, besides some pretty writing and some sensual scenes, I didn’t really get what the point of the story was. Not until I snuck a copy of the manuscript to my awesome editor, Vicki Lame, and said, “tell me whether this has potential, or whether I should put it to bed once and for all.” She fell in love with JL and also helped me to see just where the story needed to go. She unlocked the key to everything I was hoping to “say” by the story. So, it was many years of many many rewrites that brought it to publication. 2. What was your inspiration for Jack […]

Review: Knock by Melissa Atkinson Mercer

Review: Knock by Melissa Atkinson Mercer

I was originally due to post the other day but unfortunately I had a couple complications and this needed to wait. Until now, that is! I am so excited to be doing my first blog tour and review for a poetry book. When I was asked to join the blog tour for Melissa Atkinson Mercer’s Knock, I said yes without any hesitation. I’ve been reading more poetry over the past six months and jumped at the chance to read a yet-to-be-published book. So without further ado, here is information, the review and a little chance to win a copy! ~Review~ Let me first put a disclaimer here to say I received an e-copy of this book via the publisher for a blog tour and it affects my opinion in no way. I am happy to review Knock for my first poetry book review. When I began Knock, I wasn’t sure what to expect. For such a small book, it took me away on a surprise journey. Metaphors and figurative language explode from the pages as it goes through depression, gender and the deepest parts of ourselves. If I were to compare Knock to another poetry book, I would compare it […]

When The Moon Was Ours Blog Tour – Excerpt

When The Moon Was Ours Blog Tour – Excerpt

Hi everyone. I am posting (a bit late) for the When The Moon Was Ours blog tour. I’ve heard countless praise and from what I’ve read of it, it’s all quite warranted. It’s extremely lyrical and poetic. I’ll be sharing an excerpt of it below along with some information about it first: When The Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore Published By: St. Martin’s Thomas Dunne on October 4th, 2016 Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Magical Realism, Romance, LGBTQIA Pages: 288 Goodreads Summary:  When the Moon Was Ours follows two characters through a story that has multicultural elements and magical realism, but also has central LGBT themes—a transgender boy, the best friend he’s falling in love with, and both of them deciding how they want to define themselves. To everyone who knows them, best friends Miel and Sam are as strange as they are inseparable. Roses grow out of Miel’s wrist, and rumors say that she spilled out of a water tower when she was five. Sam is known for the moons he paints and hangs in the trees, and for how little anyone knows about his life before he and his mother moved to town. But as odd as everyone considers […]

Hey everyone. I am so thrilled to have Kody on my blog for the blog tour. Rules that are meant to protect their legally blind daughter — protect her from what, Agnes isn’t quite sure. Despite everything, Bo and Agnes become best friends. And it’s the sort of friendship that runs truer and deeper than anything else. So when Bo shows up in the middle of the night, with police sirens wailing in the distance, desperate to get […]
