Hey everyone. I’m disclosing my January TBR. It has been a very, very, very long time since I’ve been here. It is a new year and I am so ready to go back to my TBR-reading ways. After February of last year (that sounds so weird to type out), I hit the biggest podcast-kick ever and ended up leaving my audiobooks and TBRs behind. Before then, the last TBR post was..*checks notes* August 2023…
Monthly TBR is a new feature where I discuss what books I plan to read every month.
However, as it is a new year and I am (re)entering my bookish era, I am coming in full force.
One of my goals is to read a little bit every day or at least one physical book a week. I’m not certain yet how I’ll determine what to read each week. I decided to go with wintery vibes for my first though. I am participating in a few reading challenges, some of which are monthly so I do need to look those over and see if any of my current choices will work. Otherwise, I may use my physical books for that.
My first physical book I plan to read is Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder.
GR Summary:
Restless souls and empty hearts
Brooklyn can’t sleep. Her boyfriend, Lucca, died only a year ago, and now her friend Gabe has just died of an overdose. Every time she closes her eyes, Gabe’s ghost is there waiting for her. She has no idea what he wants or why it isn’t Lucca visiting her dreams.
Nico can’t stop. He’s always running, trying to escape the pain of losing his brother, Lucca. But when Lucca’s ghost begins leaving messages, telling Nico to help Brooklyn, emotions come crashing to the surface.
As the nightmares escalate and the messages become relentless, Nico reaches out to Brooklyn. But neither of them can admit that they’re being haunted. Until they learn to let each other in, not one soul will be able to rest.
Why am I planning on reading it?
The book cover, of course. It is really simple but it gives me winter vibes. It has been on my TBR for literal years.
Next up are my eARCs for the month of which I have a few of them:
Lies on the Serpent’s Tongue by Kate Pearsall
The Secret Year by Jennifer Hubbard
The Last Bookstore on Earth by Lily Braun-Arnold
The Rival by Emma Lord
I Think They Love You by Julian Winters
The Romantic Tragedies of a Drama King by Harry Trevaldwyn
I still need to finish or rather re-start Bittersweet In The Hollow by Kate Persall because Lies on the Serpent’s Tongue is a sequel/companion novel. I haven’t read the last few releases by Emma Lord which is ridiculous because I loved When You Get The Chance and Begin Again
From my audiobook backlist, I want to listen to these Christmas-themed stories. I wanted to listen to them before Christmas but podcast kick.
Make My Wish Come True by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick
Make The Season Bright by Ashley Herring Blake
Finally up is my audiobook TBR from the library:
Here are five books from Hoopla that I checked out and need to listen to this month. Sometimes I really miss the 15 borrow limit that my library used to have with Hoopla but I know that can be costly so I’m just happy with five. Plus hopefully it will help me listen to my backlist on Audible and Libro FM this year.
Crashing Into You by Rocky Callen
One House Left by Vincent Ralph
Lock The Doors by Vincent Ralph
We Did Nothing Wrong by Hannah Jayne
Perfect Girl by Tracy Banghart
From Libby, I am borrowing these twelve:
Such Charming Liars by Karen M. McManus
Death at Morning House by Maureen Johnson
A Crown So Cursed by L. L. McKinney
The Grandest Game (#1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Thirsty by Jas Hammond
Flawless Girls by Anna-Marie McLemore
Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White
Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White
Two Sides To Every Murder by Danielle Valentine
Wrong Answers Only by Tobias Madden
Sunrise Nights by Jeff Zentner and Brittany Cavallaro
A Banh Mi for Two by Trinity Nguyen
A lot of these are me playing catch up on Young Adult releases that I’ve wanted to read. There is a mix of YA Mysteries and Contemporaries.
My January Audiobook Pre-Orders:
After Life by Gayle Foreman
I Am Not Jessica Chen by Ann Liang

Some of these may change depending on what library holds come in. Are you a TBR reader or a mood reader? What is on your January TBR? Do you have certain books you want to read this month?
