Monthly Recap January 2023

Monthly Recap is a bit of a self-explanatory feature where I recap my life, share books I’ve read, borrowed, and purchased, blog posts you may have missed, shows I’ve watched and give an overall count of my reading progress and more.

My Life Graphic

There isn’t much to say here regarding my life. Everything is going pretty business as usual work-wise. I’ve been spending a lot of time with my nieces and nephew. I did start insulin and Ozempic last month and they seem to be working pretty well so far. My blood sugar levels are a lot better. I attempted to participate in Bout of Books and ended up starting two books but not finishing them by the time the week was up. I have since finished them though so win?

Blog StatsBlog Posts Made. . . 2

I kind of failed at blogging last month. I did manage to do two posts though!

Jan 29 – Looking Forward To January 2023

Jan 30 – My Goals For 2023

Book Stats Graphic

My reading goal for 2023 is 100 overall books and 50 physical/ebooks. I’m pretty on track so far!

I’ve read two physical books and started two.

I’m at 23 books for the year.

Where I failed in blogging, I made up for in reading! I finished White Out which I started in December.

Note: Harper Collins employees have been on strike since 11/10/22 and while I do include Harper titles in this post, I fully support the strike and their right to a living wage.

Favorite Books Of The Month:

January was such a good reading month! I loved several books.

6 Times We Almost Kissed by Tess Sharpe, I love all the books I’ve read by her.

The 99 Boyfriends of Micah Summers by Adam Sass was such a fave and I need a physical copy immediately.

This Is Not A Personal Statement by Tracy Badua, Jasmine Zumideh Needs A Win by Susan Azim Boyer and If You Could See The Sun by Ann Liang delve into how deep students will go for academics and I loved them.

I loved the college-age YA protagonists of How To Excavate A Heart, Fresh and Begin Again.

Books Bought:

I’ve mostly just been taking advantage of my library’s Friends of The Library bookstore and Libro and Audible for digital books. I spend an absolutely ridiculous amount on ebook and audiobooks so I am not going to get into that, however:

What I've Been WatchingI watched the new season of Ginny & Georgia which I loved. I can’t wait for season 3. I’ve also been rewatching Mom, somehow I still haven’t seen every episode.

How was your month? What was one of your favorite books you read so far this year? Let me know in the comments.
